Allies

Allies is a program Janet Meddick developed to help elementary students learn how to better deal with conflict in their relationships, and how to stop bullying by standing up for themselves and others.

Groups meet to identify social problems, discuss various solutions, then create and practice role-playing scenarios to share with others.

Students learn to use an assertive body stance, voice, and words so they can respond to stressful and emotional situations with confidence and kindness.

Our Treehouse

Our Treehouse is the only organization in Whatcom County that provides support services to children, teens and families who are grieving over the death of a parent, grandparent, child or other immediate family member. We rely on our volunteers and facilitators (volunteers who have undergone Our Treehouse's grief training) to run events and support programs for bereaved families. We host fundraising events, dinners and social events for children, teens and parents and facilitate support groups. Our goal is to provide children, teens and families with a comfortable, safe and stress-free environment. We want to connect them with other children, teens and parents who have experienced similar losses, who understand what they are going through; while providing them with the counseling and support of specially trained facilitators.
